Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took Part in the Opening of the Fifth International Historical-Geographical-Artistic Symposium "Me and My Ukraine".

In the course of the meeting, organized by the Humanitarian Lyceum named after T. G, Shevchenko, pupils of the schools of general education form 16 regions of Ukraine and also representatives of Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Transdniestria took part.

Greeting the participants of the symposium, V. Lytvyn stated that "all our economical difficulties is because of the lack of the attention paid to the humanitarian factor".

V. Lytvyn emphasized the necessity to recommend Ukraine in the world with honor, "demonstrating the unity of the people, national and European identity".

V. Lytvyn made a present for lyceum: manual textbooks for the school children and students on the history of Ukraine.

Giving answers to the questions, V. Lytvyn stressed that during the next plenary week the most urgent issues to scrutinize would the ones concerning the finance and economic crisis.

According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Parliament "will need to return to the hearings on the report of the Temporary Inquiry Panel on Investigation of the Gas Supplement to Ukraine as it was determined by the corresponding decision".

V. Lytvyn deems it to be sensational issue that during the next week the information on the decision of the UNO International Court in Hague regarding Zmiyiniy island will be presented by the Minister on Unternational Affairs.

V. Lytvyn has also stressed on the importance of the local self-governing concerning overcoming of the consequences of the economic crisis.
